ITU PROUDLY ANNOUNCES ITS 2019 COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY

Congratulations to all those graduating in 2019! This Commencement Ceremony is a testament to all the hard work and dedication shown by our students over the past few years and months.

The Spring 2019 Commencement Ceremony is open to students petitioning to graduate for spring 2019 trimester and all terms prior. If you are completing your studies in summer or fall of 2019, you will become eligible to walk for the 2020 Commencement Ceremony. To participate in the commencement ceremony, complete the online reservation form by Monday, March 29, 2019.

Through the reservation form, graduates can request up to four guest tickets, submit guest information for letters of invitation, and order graduation regalia. Letters of invitation for visiting purposes is provided as a courtesy. ITU will provide only up-to-four letters of invitation per graduate. Additional requests for guest tickets may be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis and may incur a nominal additional charge. Simply indicate your interest in additional tickets and staff will inform you of availability by Friday, March 29, 2019.

All students must have their regalia (cap, gown, tassle, and hood) to participate in the graduation ceremony. Graduates can request up to four guest tickets. We highly encourage graduates to complete the online reservation form by Monday, March 29, 2019 and order your regalia as soon as possible.

ORDERING THROUGH ITU

ITU has a limited supply of regalia sets (cap, gown, tassle, and hood) on hand that may be purchased through the university for $65.00 (masters) and $90 (doctorate). These will become available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

ORDERING THROUGH JOSTENS

All other regalia requests will need to be made through Jostens. An additional service charge for mailing will be incurred. Additionally a late fee may be incurred for rush orders. Jostens Order Form: www.jostens.com

Your cap, gown, and tickets will be available for pick-up at the Information Center from Monday, April 1, 2019 through Friday, April 26, 2019. The Information Center is open Monday-Friday from 10:00AM - 5:00PM.

Please be sure to have a government issued ID or your ITU student ID for cap & gown pick-up. Caps and gowns ordered through ITU based on the size you provided on the Commencement RSVP form and only if you have paid your balance in full. Students that did not pay their cap and gown fee will not receive a cap and gown. It is mandatory for graduating students to have a cap and gown to participate in the Commencement ceremony.

Caps and gowns will not be available for purchase or pick up on the day of the ceremony. Please be sure to plan accordingly. If there are any changes made to the pick-up dates or location, you will be notified through your email.

If you can no longer attend the Commencement Ceremony, please send an email to commencement@itu.edu. A student cannot take your place in the event that you cannot attend the Commencement Ceremony. Your attendance is non-transferrable.

If you were unable to secure commencement regalia through ITU, you will need to purchase these items through Jostens. Depending on the date of your order, an additional rush fee may be incurred as these items will be mailed directly to your home.

The 2019 Commencement Ceremony will take place at the Mission Ballroom of the Santa Clara Convention Center located at 5001 Great America Pkwy, Santa Clara, CA 95054. The ceremony will begin promptly at 11:00AM. Graduates are requested to arrive by 10:00AM in order to line up and receive final instructions for the ceremony.

Graduating students are required be dressed in their cap, gown, and hood. (For proper regalia attire instructions, please refer to www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMs28Nm7EYU ). Guests must have their tickets prior to arriving to avoid last minute delays and may begin checking-in to ensure they are seated by 10:30am. Only guests with reserved tickets may attend.

Commencement ceremony regalia order through ITU will be available for pick-up at the Information Center from Monday, April 1, 2019 through Friday, April 26, 2019. The Information Center is open Monday-Friday from 10:00AM - 5:00PM. Guest tickets will also be available for pick up during these times. Please be sure to have a government issued ID or your ITU student ID.

Academic attire and tickets will not be available for pick-up on the day of the ceremony. Please be sure to pick-up your materials prior to the Commencement Ceremony date.

Students are currently provided four (4) guest tickets per graduate, free of charge for the ceremony. Those that hold a ticket will be permitted to attend. Students will receive an email notification in the event that space opens up for additional tickets.

Please send an email to commencement@itu.edu to make the necessary arrangements ahead of time. Student's guests may also ask an attendant during the time they check into the venue for available seating.

Children of all ages including infants require a guest ticket to attend the Commencement Ceremony. If you have not registered your child as a guest through your original RSVP submission, please send an email to commencement@itu.edu.

Strollers will not be permitted in the venue. Please be sure to have your child seated in your lap throughout the entire duration of the ceremony. Children over the age of 2 years old will require their own guest ticket to attend the Commencement Ceremony.

Balloons and flowers are permitted inside the venue. Because it may cause a distraction to speakers on stage, blocking other guest’s views, or a hazard, we ask guests to be mindful of either bringing something to weight them down on the floor or be seated at the back rows of the venue. Guests are more than welcome to bring flowers as long as they remain with guests until the end of the ceremony. Please avoid handing flowers out to students while the ceremony is in session. Flowers may be handed to graduating students during the reception that will take place after the ceremony.

Only certified service animals with valid certification are allowed to attend the Commencement Ceremony.

The Student Services Office will process invitation letters based on the submission students made during their RSVP. Each graduate can request up to four letters of invitation. Requests will be processed within 48-hours and made available for pick up at the Information Center.

Tickets will not have guest names printed, therefore, it is up to the student's discretion on who they select as their guests. Guest tickets cannot be used for other students that have not RSVP'd to the Commencement Ceremony. Students that missed the RSVP deadline must send an email to commencement@itu.edu if they are interested in participating in the Commencement Ceremony.

Food and beverages will not be available before or during the Commencement Ceremony. Please plan accordingly prior to arriving to the ceremony. Students and guests are welcome to join the light reception that will take place immediately after the Commencement Ceremony. Light refreshments and beverages will be provided following the ceremony.

The reception will take place at the Santa Clara Convention Center after the ceremony.

Students and guests will have access to free parking. There is a designated drop off area for guests needing additional services at the entrance of the Mission Ballroom. As well, the disabled parking lot is conveniently located adjacent to the Mission Ballrooom.

Please note: Students who require special accommodations for guests who need assistance can make special arrangements by contacting commencement@itu.edu.

Students can expect to receive their diplomas approximately six (6) weeks after their conferral date. The delivery of the diplomas is dependent on the delivery preference stated on the Petition to Graduate Form. Students may update the delivery method of their diploma by submitting a ticket through support@itu.edu to the Office of the Registrar.
