Professor Tafolla received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Psychology from Santa Clara University. His study emphasis was in the areas of educational psychology and the psychology of personality. He has graduated with his J.D. from the University of San Francisco.

His primary emphasis in law school was on the legal concerns of high technology business. As an academic, Professor Tafolla's interests include intellectual property, international business, insurance, medical device regulation, and entrepreneurship.

Professor Tafolla was employed as an electromechanical product-packaging designer in Silicon Valley. He has extensive experience working in both R&D / product develop teams and in manufacturing operations he then worked as a legal researcher/law clerk for various small law firms in the San Francisco Bay Area. Professor Tafolla’s professional experience is based primarily in Silicon Valley high technology companies where he provides legal support to corporate legal departments and executive management.

Azadeh Adibi, Ph.D.,
Dr. Adibi got her PhD. in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ. She has industry experience as Quality Engineer in various industries including Aerospace, Telecommunication, and Medical Device. She is Education Coordinator for American Society of Quality (ASQ), Silicon Valley Section.

Her areas of interest include: Statistical Quality Control, Industrial Statistics, Six Sigma, Design of Experiments, Operations Research, Data Analytics.

In addition to his extensive teaching experience Internationally and nationally in engineering management, marketing, and technology, Dr. Al-Shehabi, is dynamic high-tech executive with a demonstrated track record of providing successful solutions to start-up companies. An operations leader with 20+ years of excellence, leading and initiating global projects in semiconductor solutions serving emerging technology markets. Innovative problem solver and customer-service oriented. Motivational team leader and seasoned professional with excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability in continuous cost reduction, quality asserting and meeting or exceeding time to market. Decisive professional with experience directing staff to increase productivity, achieving the best for the bottom line.

Avid Farhoodfar, PhDAdjunct Faculty

Dr. Avid Farhoodfar is a core faculty member at ITU. Her current industry work includes working in fiber optics and photonics projects. She has several published papers in recognizable journals as Physical Review B in 2009 and 2012, Journal of Physics in 2008: Condensed Matters. In 2014, She published a paper in Laser Resonators, Microresonators, and Beam Control XVI Journal in Bay area.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in Solid State Physics from Beheshti University, MS in Plasma Physics from Science and Technology University in Iran, MS in Condensed Matter Physics from Brock University, and PhD in Computational Physics and Material sciences from Queen’s University, Canada.

Girish HarsheCore Faculty

Girish Harshe
Dr. Harshe has over 25 years of experience in Leadership and management in IT and Telecom, product development, delivery, strategic alliances, business development and sales, account and program management. He managed and directed large global software development and delivery teams in North America, Europe, India, and Malaysia.

Dr. Harshe brings industry experience insight to higher education. He has taught at 4 universities, published over 40 technical papers in International Journals and Conferences, and awarded 4 US Patents related to technical inventions.

He received his Ph.D. at Pennsylvania State University, M.B.A. at University of Chicago, and B.Tech. and the Indian Institute of Technology.

Michelle Liang, PhDCore Faculty

Dr. Michelle Liang is experienced in both research and teaching. She strives to help students develop both a breadth of general knowledge and soft skills, and a depth of technical expertise.

She has been a postdoctoral researcher at ITU for the last three years. Her recent research interests focus on business-driven trustworthy technologies, such as IoT, Blockchain, Cloud Computing, E-commerce, and Cyber Security.
Before joining ITU, she accumulated nine years of teaching experience from Fudan University and Harbin Institute of Technology. She has four years of industry experience in telecommunication networking and banking in the United States and China.

Dr. Liang received her PhD. in Computer Science from Fudan University, China and MS. in Computer Engineering from University of Minnesota, US.

Bhairav MehtaCore Faculty

Prof. Mehta in an experienced engineer and seasoned statistician with 11 years of professional experience in data analytics, operations and high tech / automotive industry. He had extensive education with Master degree in Industrial Engineering, Statistics along with Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Cornell University. He is passionate about statistics, quality, analytics and operations.

He also has an extensive industrial experience. He has worked for Ford Motor Company and Luminus Devices Inc as industrial statistician, Qualcomm Inc as senior yield engineer and now as the senior iPhone analyst engineer for Apple Inc. Prof. Mehta is also a certified quality engineer of ASQ (American Society for Quality).

Robert PayneAdjunct Faculty

Robert Payne
Robert Payne has over 30 years in industry experience. His specialties are in Intellectual property litigation and enforcement, including patent, trademark, copyright and trade secrets. He has over 50 published articles and presentations on trademark, patent and trade secret subjects

He received his L.LM. at the International Law, University College, University of London; received his J.D. at University of California Davis, and received his B.A. at Stanford University.

Alex PetersAdjunct Faculty

Alex has 30+ years of experience as program executive, consultant, industry analyst and scholar. Previously, he worked for Forrester Research as CIO principal analyst, for Audi as program executive and IT director, and for EDS and IBM as principal and senior consultant. He worked also for two startups.

Alex earned a Ph.D. in Engineering from Aachen University of Technology in Germany and he was a post-doc fellow at Princeton University.

Alfonso Ramirez

Alfonso Ramirez

Essentials: Professor Ramirez received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration (M.B.A) from University of Phoenix. Professor Ramirez devoted a great deal of his academic studies to medical device company establishment, medical product development and manufacturing. He also holds an Associate of Science Degree in Avionics and Aircraft Electronics.

Professor Ramirez is a Senior medical device professional with extensive Quality and Operations experience providing support to all phases of the product life cycle including concept development, pilot production and high volume manufacturing. He has worked in both early start-ups and Fortune 100 companies. He carries extensive experience in establishing, registering, and operating off-shore operations including prolonged ex-patriot assignments in Costa Rica. He carries over 18 years of medical device development, lean manufacturing and quality operations experience. Professor Ramirez is a Certified Quality Auditor (C.Q.A) and member of the American Society for Quality (A.S.Q.). He also owns and co-authored various patents.

Positions that Professor Ramirez has held in the industry include: Quality Manager for Neurovascular Products, Director of Medical Device Operations, General Manager of Off-Shore Operations, Research and Development Associate Engineer, Medical Device Manufacturing and Clean Room Design Consultant.

Mamoun SamahaCore Faculty

Prof. Samaha got his MSEE in Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands.

He has extensive industrial experience. He worked for Hewlett Packard, as Architect & Technology Strategist in corporate IT, as Software Architect, then became Wireless and Mobility Chief Technology officer. Later he worked for Motorola Mobility as their Enterprise Chief Technology Officer. Currently he is Co-Founder, CEO & Chief Strategy Officer for MobWee Inc.

Prof. Samaha’s areas of interest include: mobile security identity and authentication, mobile device management, mobile applications, Android, iOS, Windows mobile, enterprise architecture & security and workflow, process automation.

Krishan SanghiAdjunct Faculty

Krishan Sanghi

Professor Sanghi got his Masters in Engineering Management at International Technological University; his Masters in Business Management at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM); and his B.S. in Electronics and Communication Engineering at Kurukshetra University.

He has over 30 years' techno commercial experience in managing technology based businesses, with over 20 years in top management positions. Professor Sanghi has been involved in setting up few Country Office(s) / start ups in technology companies, and is an active PMI certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and has managed projects of different nature, size, complexity at different levels.

Jeremy Tzeng, PhDAdjunct Faculty

Dr. Tzeng got his MS and Ph.D in EECS from University of California, Berkeley.

He has extensive industrial experience. In his early career he worked for Rockwell International and Bell Labs as engineer scientist. Then he became director of wireless communications, Alfa Inc., and then director of InnoMedia Technology Inc. Afterwards he worked as VP of Communications Division, Ali, Taiwan, as Special Assistant to the President, Communications Business Group of Foxconn and as VP of Technology, InnoMedia Inc.

Dr. Tzeng was awarded 5 US patents. He was also the editor of IEEE Transactions on Communications.
